My 2015 Kona Ironman World Champs Training

My workshop and indoor trainer setup.

I have the fortune of having a pretty good setup in my garage though as you can see....

I have a trade background as an electrician and now I'm an engineer so I have all of the tools and toys to work on my bike which I really enjoy. I built this bike up from scratch as with my previous time trial bike. I'll go more into that in a later post though when I have a bit of time.

Wednesday run

This morning I did my planned hill repeats with a short tempo effort at the end, which all went well. I'm really feeling quiet strong running now, I can tick along at a reasonable pace without too much discomfort and my recovery time is very short. The day after my run sessions I don't really feel any effects in my muscles, just a little accumulated fatigue if I push it a bit. I selected a nice longish hill up to the John Hunter Hospital here in Newcastle which works well for this session and just jogged back down and repeated it 3 times.
Then I followed that by a short tempo effort about 2km long.

I then did a good core session in the evening while dinner was cooking of about 35min, made up of a various range of core work using body weight.
Incorporated into this I did some leg strength stuff such as slow one legged step downs to focus on hip stability. I really felt is afterwards as I am traditionally slack with the core work!
