Monday 13 July
Getting back into it....
I'm back home now after the week away on site and now with 12 weeks to go it's time to hit the main training block for Kona. I decided to take Monday off work due to the big week last week and travel all day on Saturday, which would allow me to get a nice 120-140km bike ride in.
But alas not to be, as seems to be the theme so far this winter.
Eastern Aust has been hit by an Arctic blast and the weather is terrible! I tried to guts it out but after 1hr of getting blasted by freezing winds it started raining and I had to retreat back to the garage and trainer once again. I'm so over this cold weather and riding or running in the cold windy rain and pretty pissed off....
I ended up completing a 2.5hr ride which was 50mins on the road and the remainder on the trainer.
I then managed to get a 4km swim done in the afternoon with some friends. This was a good session and something which I needed to get done, I need to get three good swims in per week from here on.
The session was good, we did the following;
1 x 800m pull buoy zone 2
2 x 400m pull & paddles
4 x 200m paddles
8 x 100m free on 1:45, 3 hard 1 easy
16 x 50m on 60 sec, 3 hard 1 easy
My TSS and fitness really suffered from the week away working, dropping from 94 to 83!
Pretty frustrating, but things were just too busy and difficult to get time to train so I just have to accept it for what it is.
From here I need to get back into routine and build things steadily, and the most important thing is to start to get some longer rides done.
