My 2015 Kona Ironman World Champs Training

Friday 31 July 2015

The juggling goes on...

So today we had a specialist appointment for my wife's back which yielded some light at the end of the tunnel. It looks like surgery is the only option which will solve the problem and he is very confidant that it is a pretty standard procedure as far as the back goes.

There will be another couple of weeks of me juggling everything but he is confidant that she will recover well and relatively quickly so the Kona trip is still OK.

I was really starting to stress for the last week, that things may unfold and the trip might have to be cancelled. But things are still going ahead and I just need to get through these next couple of weeks and things should be a little less stressful at home and I can get fit enough to have a reasonable race.

I did get a good quality run done before work as per plan;

10 min W/U
6 x 2km @ 4min/km
10-15 min C/D

The run felt very good and very easy, I could have given a lot more but must focus on the quality of the sessions and start to work on my pacing.

After work I was not able to get a swim or anything else done as had to get home for dinner & family duties, but certainly enjoyed 2 of these after a stressful week!
